I had gone to the Furtados music store in Juhu about three weeks ago to get one of my electric guitars serviced.
The strings needed to be changed and the action was uneven on some of the strings, which needed to be fixed.
The guitar technician (I think his name is John) there changed the strings for me and said that he fixed the action but when I checked it, the b string was still buzzing and getting muted on fast bends. For anyone who plays the guitar seriously, you know what I’m referring to. However, he denied it and said it was working fine. So I don’t waste much time arguing just left. I managed to get the problem fixed later on my own.
He also did not know how to fix my tremolo arm. When I asked him to install the tremolo he said that it was the wrong one. This was not the case at all (later I went back and realised that the bridge needed to be opened, as it was fixed. It had to be converted into a floating bridge for the whammy to work). The tremolo arm was absolutely the correct one.
Along with his technical incompetence, his attitude was seemed or be very dismissive and indifferent. What a horrible experience. I’ve been a guitar student at Furtados and have learnt guitar for several years from wonderful guitar teachers (Abhishek Shah & Diwas Rai).
I did not expect this at all, it was very different from the experience that I had with Furtados during the 2011 to 2016 era. The other staff at the Juhu store also seemed completely uninterested and uninformed about guitars and had the same indifferent attitude. A severe lack of professionalism.

• Good selection of legacy & top-tier brands.
• Well informed staff about the guitars on display and which type of guitar will be suitable based on customer's needs or guitar goals.
• Staff is always available within reach when needed yet gives you space to explore and experiment with the instruments to find the right 'fit' for you.
• Staff on duty gave good demonstration of the guitars and their sound (acoustic and when plugged into amp) - showed that they are not just a face and understand the musician's needs and questions.
• Staff is polite, patient and honest in their approach and suggestions at this store.

I told them I am a beginner, so they sold me a nice Fender squire and an amp.. but forgot to mention that I will need an audio cable separately.
When I got the guitar home, the first string had a buzz when the first fret is played. So I went back to get it fixed, they fixed it and gave the guitar a very high action.
I told the guy about the action and he said, this is pretty good.. I trusted him because I am a beginner.
After suffering the guitar for almost a month, my friend told me to take it to Alberto in Malad... and they fixed the action. It plays like butter now!
For a beginner, I won't recommend Furtados since the guitar guys there are Pros selling to Pros... for the rest mere mortals like me, go figure.

Never buy online from them. Pathetic experience.
Excuses after excuses after excuses. Not shipping the order despite multiple reminder. Everyday I call they give me a new date. Very unprofessional. They also shared a fake bluedart tracking code with me, thinking they are oversmart.

One of the few Musical Instrument shops which provide quality instruments and have a knowledgeable staff. However they are getting strong competition from online shops like Bajao and also need to improve a bit on the variety and price points of instruments provided. However worth checking them out and also you won't regret your purchase from them.

You can learn guitar at our Furtados School of Music center in Juhu. We offer guitar classes for beginners and learners looking to improve their skills. Online classes and home tuitions may also be available depending on your requirements.
Should I invest in an acoustic guitar or an electric guitar?
The choice depends on your musical interests. Acoustic guitars are a good starting point for beginners, while electric guitars are ideal if you enjoy rock music and sound effects. Our guitar teachers can help you choose the right instrument based on your goals.
Can I learn guitar online if I live in Juhu?
Yes. Online guitar lessons are a convenient option if you cannot travel to a center. You will need a guitar, a stable internet connection and a device with a camera so that your teacher can see your hand position and strumming. Please contact us to check the online options available.
What is the right age to join guitar classes in Juhu?
Many children begin guitar once they can comfortably hold the instrument and press the strings, which is often around 7 to 8 years of age, while teenagers and adults can start at any age. Please contact us to confirm age eligibility for the classes you are interested in.
How long does it take to learn guitar?
The time it takes depends on your practice routine, your goals and the style you want to play. Most beginners learn basic chords and simple songs within the first few months of regular practice, while developing advanced skills takes longer.
What size or gauge strings should I use?
Beginners often find light gauge strings easier on the fingers. Nylon strings are gentler and are common on classical guitars, while steel strings are used on acoustic and electric guitars and give a brighter sound. Your guitar teacher can recommend the right strings for your instrument and playing style.
Why is a metronome important for a guitarist?
A metronome helps you develop steady timing and rhythm, which are essential for strumming, chord changes and playing along with other musicians. Practising with a metronome regularly makes your playing more consistent and accurate.
Do I need any music experience before joining guitar classes in Juhu?
No. Our guitar classes are suitable for complete beginners, and you can start without any prior music experience. If you already play a little, your teacher can help you build on what you know.
